WILD ARUNDO DONAX FROM ITALY

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY CANE...
In 1999, my team and I conducted a scientific article exploring the characteristics that distinguish good quality reeds, focusing for instance on the occlusion of xylem vessels in Arundo donax L. reeds resulting from tylosis and the nuclear microprobe analysis of reeds. We used scanning electron and light microscopy to examine ten superior and nine inferior reeds obtained from three experienced principal oboists. Our research offers valuable insights for selecting the optimal reeds for woodwind instruments. I invite you to read our investigation and discover some key observations that we uncovered.
